Wellington “Scorpion” Hall
Review Board/Prospect Committee Chair and Past 1st Vice President 2 years

I was born in Belize, Central America, where I received all of my formal education. I came to the United States at the age of 22, and joined the US Army in 1970. I took my basic training at Fort Dix, NJ, and my AIT at Fort Gordon, Ga as a Military Policeman. I also conducted Airborne Training at Fort Benning, where my first permanent assignment brought me to Fort Bragg, NC. I have had an array of wonderful assignments around the world as a military policeman to include Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, with the 503rd MP Bn, 16th MP Bde. I retired from the US Army in 1994.

My wife Edith and I have been married for 35 years, and we have 3 sons, Adam, Brian, and Todd. Adam lives in Fayetteville, NC, Brian is in the Army and presently assigned in Virginia Beach, VA. Todd also lives in Fayetteville, NC. I wanted my retirement years to be enjoyable and beneficial. I bought a Suzuki (C50) Boulevard, and completed the Motorcycle Safety Course. The Buffalo Soldiers was an organization that I had seen plenty of times in my community doing charitable work, so it was a no brainer for me to petition to joined. I was very proud the day that I was voted into this wonderful organization, and I promised to continue to uphold the traditions of the 9th and 10th Calvary Regiment. My riding handle is “Scorpion”

I have heard about the Buffalo Soldiers for many years and wanted to find out more about the organization, but was never been at a place where I had contact with any actual members until the Memorial Day ride with Veterans Empowering Veterans in 2014 and several of the members of the Buffalo Soldiers participated and my husband and I was able to talk to the President of the North Carolina Chapter.

Derrick “Shine” Hye and Teresa “Teedee” Hye

Brother Shine met the club’s President, William “Mr. J” Johnson and his wife, Audrey “Ms. A” Johnson, who spoke with him about the NCBSMC which prompted him to visit with the club and its members.  Brother Shine’s love and passion to ride and the club’s passion to serve their community and surrounding communities made Brother Shine and his wife, Teresa request to be prospects in the club.  After he completed all the necessary requirements to join, he was voted in and became a full member, along with his wife (Associate Member) in October 2014 and is proud to be a member of such a prestigious organization.

Brother Shine is a proud veteran of the United States Army and he and his wife are the owners of Wash’n Go Mobile Car Wash and Auto Spa located in Spring Lake, NC.  Brother Shine and his wife are the proud parents of four children and four grandchildren with another granddaughter on the way.  Going to church, giving back and serving the community, spending quality time with family and friends, and traveling are what Brother Shine and his wife love to do!
